More about

Chloe

Chloe is absolutely adorable, intelligent and playful. She is looking for a special family – for foster, foster-to adopt or adoption - please read her info in detail and only apply if you meet the needs we’ve described.

Chloe is a “melt your heart with one look” kind of girl. We’re looking for a special family for this very special girl – for foster, foster-to adopt or a forever home.

Chloe is 7.6kg. We believe she came from a hoarding situation in Cyprus, where, at best, she had very little socialisation with people. As a result, she has been slow to trust unfamiliar humans, and kennel life, with volunteers coming and going, was understandably difficult for her.

Now in a UK foster home for a few weeks, Chloe is growing in confidence every day and building trust, comfort and attachment with her foster family. She will seek out their company and cuddles, but also settles comfortably alone in another room. She’ll also come up to sniff and even welcome treats from some unfamiliar people.

She LOVES being around and playing with other dogs. They give her greater confidence and help her feel much more comfortable with new experiences. For this reason, she needs to be homed with another dog.
Chloe currently lives with three cats and is cat-friendly. One cat shows some territorial aggression toward her, which Chloe defers to, but this limits her ability to explore and interact with people freely. Combined with the absence of a resident dog, this means we are looking for a foster, foster-to-adopt or forever home with at least one confident resident dog.

Her next home will need to continue the approach that has allowed Chloe to flourish. She needs predictable routines; space and reduced pressure when situations begin to feel stressful; and the opportunity to approach people in her own time (except where necessary for her care or safety). She should also have her own ‘safe spaces’, both indoors and outdoors, to retreat to.

With this approach, Chloe has shown herself to be a happy, playful, resilient and very clever girl. She now bounces back quickly from any ‘scary’ moments. She is comfortable with everyday household noises such as the TV, vacuum, washing machine, dishwasher, cooking and even a neighbour’s chainsaw. She has shown an aptitude for basic training when there is no pressure or stress — especially when chicken, hot dogs or cheese are involved!
With patience and understanding, Chloe will give you something truly special in return: her trust, and when she takes small and big steps - like not running away when the unpredictable happens, exploring and then settling in a new room in the house, finally coming to you to ask for cuddles, and then insisting they continue - your heart will swell each time. She has so much to give her forever family; are you the right family to give her what she needs?

IMPORTANT INFO

Thinking about adopting a  rescue dog?

Please think about these points before applying:

Many rescue dogs have had a tough past and may need time to adjust.

Some aren’t used to living in a home and could find new things scary.

You may need patience and sometimes help from a trainer or behaviourist.

A secure garden is essential.

Ask yourself:

Do I have enough time and commitment for a dog?

What will I do during holidays, nights out, or if I’m unwell?

Can I cope if my dog takes a long time to settle?

Do I have the finances for food, insurance, vet bills, training, and care?

If adopting a puppy, can I cover the cost of neutering/spaying?

ADOPTION PROCESS

What are the steps to Adopt a Dog from us

1. Browse dogs on our website

See if the dogs you like are a good fit for your home and routine.

  • If you see a dog you like, you can apply to adopt them directly.

  • If you don’t find the right dog, you can still fill out an application in advance.
Once a dog matching your requirements becomes available, we’ll contact you first.

2. Fill the adoption application

Tell us about yourself and your lifestyle. Adopters are required to complete an application form.
We’ll chat to make sure any dog you choose is a perfect match for you, taking into account your home, routine, and experience.

3. Home visit & Meet the dog

Before meeting a dog, a successful home visit by the rescue is required.
Once approved, you’ll visit the rescue and spend time with the dog. You’ll get to know their personality, ask questions, and see how they interact with you. We’ll discuss your lifestyle and the dog’s needs to make sure it’s a great fit for everyone.

4. Adoption

When you’re ready, we’ll complete the adoption process:

  • Sign the paperwork

  • Pay the adoption fee (£495). In most cases, this doesn’t cover the full costs incurred by the rescue, so we’re always grateful if adopters wish to make an additional donation.

  • Take your new dog home and start your journey together

About spay/neuter:

  • Adult dogs will always be neutered by the rescue either prior to homing or, in occasional cases, shortly after with arrangements made with the adopter.

  • The rescue does not spay or neuter dogs under 12 months of age, and this cost is the adopter’s responsibility.

  • Recommended ages: males 8–12 months; females after their first season (typically 8–12 weeks after). The rescue will ask for proof that this has been done.

5. Post adopton support

Our support continues after adoption. We’ll stay in touch and offer advice as your rescue dog settles into their new home.
