At Helping Hounds Hampshire, every dog that comes into our care holds a special place in our hearts. It’s impossible not to fall a little bit in love with each and every one of them.
But every now and then, a dog comes along who is truly extraordinary.
Ivy is one of those dogs.

From the moment she arrived, Ivy captured the hearts of everyone she met. Gentle, intuitive, and endlessly kind, she quickly became a steady, calming presence — especially for our younger and more nervous dogs. Her natural ability to nurture and reassure has seen her step into the role of a “big sister” to many of our pups.

It didn’t take long for us to realise that Ivy wasn’t just passing through.
Following discussions between our Co-founders, Trustees and kennel team, we made a unanimous and heartfelt decision: Ivy will become a permanent member of the Helping Hounds Hampshire team.
We are delighted to introduce Ivy as our official Rescue Ambassador and “doggy face” of the charity.
Ivy will split her time between co-founders Kate and John’s home and our kennels, where she will play a vital role in supporting both dogs and people.

Fully funded by the rescue, Ivy’s role will include:
Helping new dogs settle into kennel life
Welcoming and reassuring new volunteers during inductions
Supporting the team at events and community activities
And, of course, dispensing much-needed cuddles to our wonderful volunteers
Ivy represents everything we stand for — compassion, resilience, and the incredible bond between humans and dogs.
Some dogs find homes. And some dogs become part of the family that helps others find theirs.
Welcome to the team, Ivy.
YOU CAN Help a dog find their way home
A calm, caring home helps dogs heal, relax and learn to trust again. By offering short‑term care, you help us understand their needs and get them ready for the right forever family. We provide all supplies, vet care and full support so you’re never on your own.
If you’re ready to welcome a dog forever, visit our website to meet the dogs currently looking for homes. You can apply online and learn how we support adopters every step of the way.
Spend time with our dogs through walks, play and gentle socialising. Your support helps them build confidence and learn that people are kind. Every moment you give prepares them for life in a loving home.
